DMRC Floats Central Vista EC-04 Tender for Shield-TBM Tunnels and Four Underground Stations

DMRC has invited bids under EC-04 for Shield-TBM twin tunnels and four underground stations on the Central Vista Corridor; the official CPPP notice does not disclose a tender value.

Representative underground construction tunnel for Delhi Metro Central Vista EC-04 tender coverage

New Delhi, September 29, 2026: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has invited bids under Contract EC-04 for a major underground civil package on the Central Vista Corridor under Delhi MRTS Phase V(A), covering twin tunnels to be constructed by shield tunnel boring machines along with four underground stations.

The tender, identified as 2026_DMRC_927788_1, was published on the Central Public Procurement Portal on 25 September 2026. The official work description covers design and construction of twin up-and-down tunnels by Shield TBM, four underground stations, their connecting subways and associated entry and exit structures.

Bid submission is scheduled to close on 9 November 2026 at 3:00 PM, with technical bids due to open on 10 November 2026 at 3:00 PM. The official CPPP record lists the tender value as NA, so Equipment Brief is not assigning a rupee value to EC-04.

Package combines mechanised tunnelling and station construction

EC-04 combines two of the most equipment-intensive parts of metro construction: mechanised tunnelling and underground-station civil works.

The official procurement description confirms twin tunnels for the up and down lines using Shield TBMs, together with four underground stations and associated connecting subways, entrances and exits.

The package has a 1,260-day work period, equivalent to roughly 42 months. Underground metro packages of this type require tunnel drives, station structures, shafts and surface interfaces to be sequenced within a dense urban environment.

The publicly accessible tender page confirms that four underground stations form part of EC-04 but does not identify those four stations by name. Equipment Brief is therefore not assigning station names to this package without support from the detailed DMRC tender documents.

Central Vista Corridor is part of Delhi Metro Phase V(A)

The wider R.K. Ashram Marg–Indraprastha corridor spans 9.913 km and forms part of Delhi Metro Phase V(A). The Union Cabinet approved Phase V(A) in December 2025 as a three-corridor programme totalling 16.076 km, with an approved cost of ₹12,014.91 crore.

According to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, the 9.913-km Central Vista corridor is planned with nine underground stations across the wider route. DMRC began construction activity at Central Secretariat station in June 2026, where the new station is planned as a triple interchange with the existing Yellow and Violet lines.

EC-04 should therefore be understood as one major civil package within the wider corridor programme rather than the tender for the entire Central Vista route.

What Shield-TBM construction means for equipment demand

Equipment Brief analysis: the explicit use of Shield TBMs makes EC-04 directly relevant to the specialist underground-construction equipment market.

TBM tunnelling creates supporting requirements around segment supply and handling, segment erection, grouting, spoil or slurry management depending on machine configuration, ventilation, power distribution, maintenance and underground logistics.

The four-station scope adds another equipment layer through deep excavation, structural concrete, lifting, pumping, dewatering, muck handling and material movement. The exact station-construction method will depend on the detailed design and construction methodology.

The public tender summary does not specify TBM make, model, diameter or fleet quantity. It also does not establish the final deployment of cranes, excavation equipment or other construction plant. Those details remain unverified and should not be inferred at tender stage.

For wider construction context, see Equipment Brief’s guide to heavy equipment used in metro and rail projects.

Official tender value remains undisclosed

The official CPPP notice lists the EC-04 tender value as NA. Equipment Brief is therefore omitting secondary-site estimates and will not assign a project value unless it is established through DMRC’s primary tender documents or another official disclosure.

The verified financial details available from the public procurement record are the ₹21.498-crore bid security and ₹23,600 tender fee.

What contractors should watch next

The immediate milestones are the clarification deadline on 6 October, the pre-bid meeting on 7 October, opening of the bid-submission window on 2 November, the 9 November submission deadline and the scheduled technical opening on 10 November.

The correct procurement status remains tender floated / bids invited. No L1 bidder, letter of acceptance or contract award has been established for EC-04.

Equipment Brief is also tracking other DMRC contracting activity through Tender Watch, including the Sanoth Depot contract on the Rithala–Kundli corridor.
